The Chamber supports the development of an environmentally sustainable community facility in Galbraith Park.
The growing Cannonvale-Airlie Beach area has the potential to be an important and vibrant focal point for the
approximate 4,000 businesses in the region.
The proposed development – through the provision of meeting rooms, event space, hot desks, and additional
business service facilities – would be a highly valued community asset, a space to foster business connectivity,
professional development, and innovation particularly with sole traders and micro-businesses.
The facility could also be a hub for the region’s workforce – a source of information, resources, support services,
and education. As plans to establish a Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) for the greater Whitsunday
region advance, the facility might be an ideal location to house DAMA services and staff.
Additionally, the facility could provide the Chamber with a cost-effective community-centric preferred location to
host business education, events, exclusive meetings, and consultations.
Having a central hub that offers space, support, and connections for the region’s business community and
workforce – and the bodies that represent and service them – would greatly advance business sustainability and
economic development.
The community is encouraged to have their say on the Galbraith Park Draft Land Management Plan by Monday 4 December.
