The Whitsunday Regional Council are excited to announce that the Plastic Free Places program is coming to the Whitsundays!
This program will offer free advice to local businesses as they adapt to the single-use plastic free future, helping switch to a more sustainable approach.
Businesses eligible for the program are food retailers like cafes, bars, restaurants, kiosks, and vans to name a few.
The focus is on single-use plastic takeaway items that retailers can find hard to eliminate, such as straws, coffee cups and takeaway containers.
Globally, the packaging industry is changing very fast, which makes it hard for businesses to keep up and identify products that suit their needs.
At the same time, more and more locals are actively looking for plastic-free takeaway options so we are thrilled our businesses will be able to receive free on ground support and expert advice with Plastic Free Places.
