The Chamber’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Chamber Connect event will be held 7:30am-9:00am Thursday 19 October at the Whitsunday Green Club, 1 Regatta Bvd, Cannon Valley.

The AGM will commence 7:30am Thursday 19 October.
The AGM is open to all, and eligible members (Business Basics, Advanced and Premium) have voting rights.

7. Election of Office Bearers for 2023-24: Candidates are listed alphabetically on our AGM event webpage. Further Board nominations must be received in writing 14-days prior to the AGM (on or by 5 October 2023). Consideration may be given to late nominations.
Extraordinary Business
Special resolution 1: Change the name of the Whitsundays Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In light of the merger with the Proserpine Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber’s future plans, a name change is proposed to be more inclusive of (1) the region we serve and (2) the region’s business community of trades, small businesses, commerce, and industry.
Special resolution 2: Accept the new Constitution.
The draft Constitution follows the Model Rules set by the Queensland Government Office of Fair Trading and aims to provide a new, modernised governing instrument that establishes autonomy, future flexibility, and simplicity. Major changes include:
- Rule 2 Name – The proposed new Chamber name, Whitsundays Chamber of Commerce and Industry
- Rule 3a(i) Objects – The focus of the Chamber to be inclusive of trade, small business, commerce and industry.
- Rule 9 Admission and rejection of new members – Proposed new standard model rule process of approving membership at regular Board meetings.
- Rule 18(2) Membership of the Board – Board members are to be current financial members at all times.
- Rule 18(3) Membership of the Board – Board member term of office is two years.
- Rule 18(4) Membership of the Board – At each annual general meeting of the association, fifty (50%) per cent of members of the Board who have served a two (2) year term must retire from office, but are eligible, on nomination, for re-election for another two (2) year term.
Consideration of any additional special resolutions presented to the Board.

CHAMBER CONNECT
Following the AGM, will be two keynote presentations.
The first presentation will be from Amanda Camm MP, Queensland Member for Whitsunday, on business and industry issues being explored by State Government and preview of 2024 priorities.
The second presentation will be by Rob Cocco, CEO Regional Development Australia Greater Whitsundays, on the following:
- Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) – where we are at and what next?
- Housing crisis – update on the region’s housing action plan.
- Decarbonisation – what is happening in this space regarding regional planning and transformation?
- Federal Grants – update on some key grants in play and available.
