It’s Queensland Small Business Month!
It is an opportunity to celebrate and celebrate the more than 482,000 Queensland small businesses for all they do-year in, year out. In the Whitsundays, we have around 4,126 businesses of all shapes and sizes making an estimated $2.88 billion contribution to Queensland’s Gross State Product.
We recently welcomed Dominque Lamb, the Queensland Small Business Commissioner to the Whitsundays.
She addressed local business owners, outlining her role in championing business needs, advocating necessary change, and highlighted the free services available to businesses that drive growth. See our event summary.
In supporting small business, the Federal Budget has been announced.
We welcome the Budget’s focus on cost of living and provisions geared towards small business–such as energy bill relief, Stage Three Tax Cuts, instant asset write-off, and mental health support.
The Budget recognises the pressure on individuals and households but not the knock-on effect that has on business. Business costs continue to rise, the labour market is competitive and restrictive due to industrial relations laws, and red tape is everywhere.
The Whitsundays Chamber of Commerce and Industry recognises the big role small businesses makes to our region. The Chamber’s primary role is to support sustainable economic growth and connectivity in the region’s business community–and this includes the hard-working and innovative sole traders, side-hustlers, friends and spouses in business together, and micro and small enterprises who are the backbone of our economy.
We encourage everyone in the community to support local businesses during May and beyond!
