The weather has been back to its lovely dry, sunny conditions this week, which has been nice, and will hopefully lure southerners up here to spend some time in the warm!
Whales have returned to the region – almost as if on cue, to coincide with the great weather – and this is something that is truly special about our region and something we can spruik to friends and family.
We are really looking forward to the opening of the Airlie Beach Foreshore on Saturday (June 29), which will bring a welcome boost to the town. There will be plenty going on during the day, so come on down and support your local community.
There is much to look forward to for our region, including the reopening of Hayman Island Resort under the Intercontinental brand, in July. As reported in last week’s Whitsunday Times, it will deliver a “fully integrated, mindful experience, offering guests a luxurious location to relax and connect with their loved ones”. Sign me up!
Also in last week’s paper was a comprehensive breakdown of council’s budget with some big ticket items earmarked, such as the Shute Harbour restoration and continued upgrades to Whitsunday Coast Airport – all great for our region.
It’s always nice to see a Whitsundays business score a win and I’d like to say a big congratulations to Whitsunday Jetski Tours, which has been recognised as the number one tourism experience in Australia on TripAdvisor, in the 2019 Travellers’ Choice Awards.
Not only did they achieve this accolade in winning the top spot on an Australian level, but they were also announced as number five in the Top 10 Experiences in the whole of the South Pacific. Well done to Steve and Toni Ward and all the team. This is great promotion for the whole region.
And don’t forget, Chamber membership renewals are due soon – invoices will be issued first week of July.
We are the region’s largest, non-tourism specific business organisation, and represent all industries. Member benefits are listed on our website www.whitsundaycoastchamber.com.au
And you can call any of our committee members if you have questions – our numbers are on the website.
This will be followed by the Chamber’s AGM in August – exact date to be advised – when the Executive and the Committee are voted in.
Only paid-up members can vote, so make sure you’ve paid your annual subs to have a say in the running of your chamber.
Until next time – president@whitsundaycoastchamber.com.au
The Airlie Foreshore re-opening is exciting for the town!
