The Chamber welcomes the 2024 Queensland State Budget’s focus on short-term cost of living measures like energy rebates and registration discounts.
However, it does not deliver genuine, direct relief to the state’s business community and fails to lay the foundations for long-term business confidence.
Chamber President, Allan Milostic, says “The Chamber hoped the budget would be financially responsible, free from election promises and one that prioritised improvements to the business operating environment and support for North Queensland regional and rural businesses.
For the Whitsundays business community, we call — and will continue to advocate — for increased regional infrastructure investment – fix our roads, improve housing availability and affordability, and strengthen digital (phone and internet) reliability.
Plus we will be looking for incentives to stimulate workforce attraction and retention, investment, and business innovation.”
